Can my parent keep their own doctor?
In most cases, yes. Many residents at HomeMedix Goodrich continue seeing their existing primary care doctor or specialists, while our nursing team coordinates care, communicates changes, and helps manage appointments and transportation when needed. If you prefer, we can also connect your parent with our trusted physician partners who round on‑site.
How do I know which care package my parent needs?
During your first visit, an RN and care advisor will sit down with you to review your parent’s medical history, medications, mobility, memory, and daily routines. Together, we’ll map out what a typical day looks like now, and what a safer, more supported day could look like at Goodrich. From there, we’ll recommend the package that meets their needs without adding unnecessary cost—and adjust over time as needs change.
What if my parent doesn’t want to leave home?
Many of our residents were initially reluctant to move. We approach those conversations with patience and respect. During your tour, you’re welcome to bring your parent to meet residents with similar stories, see their private spaces, and experience a meal or activity. Often, once they feel the warmth of the community and see that their independence is respected, resistance softens.
How much notice is required before move‑in?
Availability at the Goodrich branch changes week to week. Some families plan months ahead, while others come to us after an unexpected hospital stay. After your tour and assessment, we’ll discuss current availability, timelines, and what needs to be in place (medical records, medications, personal items) for a safe move‑in. When there’s urgency, our team moves quickly to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Is HomeMedix Goodrich covered by insurance or Medicaid?
Coverage depends on your parent’s specific insurance plan and eligibility. Our financial counselor will review your options, including long‑term care insurance, private pay, and any available state or federal programs.
